Current Time — TikTok Live Decorate overlay

Current Time pins your local clock — big HH:MM:SS, date on by default, 12/24-hour toggle. The base widget for cross-timezone and timed sessions.

Prerequisite: install and run TKStudio (Windows desktop) and connect it to the TikTok LIVE room you are streaming. This article stands on its own — from configuration to OBS / TikTok LIVE Studio setup.

When to use it

Multi-timezone audiences (overseas, students abroad) need a visible clock to plan around; timed services (queue calls, paid consults) use it as a public, transparent meter. Study-with-me streams simply aren't complete without one.

12-hour reads friendlier to North America; 24-hour elsewhere.

The demo video above shows Current Time in action (both EN and ZH versions), and the cover previews the layout; the plugin page's live preview is the source of truth.

Configuration

Configure everything on the plugin page in TKStudio — tune on the left, preview live on the right, then hit Generate link. The table below lists every parameter in panel order, its default, and practical gotchas.

ParameterDescriptionDefaultGotchas
hourFormat12-hour or 24-hour clock.24-hour12h is common for overseas audiences; 24h for mainland China.
showDateShow the date under the clock.trueUseful for cross-timezone collabs so viewers can convert times.
titleHeading text on top of the overlay.Leave empty to hide the heading row entirely.
colorMain text / element color.#ffffffAvoid pure white over bright scenes (white walls, daylight) — use a brand color.
fontSizeFont size in pixels. (24–120, step 2)64Works together with Scale: set font size first, then scale the whole overlay.
sizeOverall overlay scale (1–10). (1–10)5You can still resize in OBS / LIVE Studio afterwards; avoid stacking both too small.

How to use it in OBS

This section assumes you have generated and copied the link: open TKStudio → pick Current Time → choose the room and tune parameters → Generate linkCopy link. Keep TKStudio running while you stream — the overlay link talks to the local TKStudio process.

Generate the Current Time overlay link in TKStudio

Add the link to OBS as a Browser Source:

  1. In the Sources dock click +Browser.
  2. Paste the copied link into URL; set width / height to your canvas (usually 1920×1080).
  3. Leave Shutdown source when not visible unchecked so the overlay never pauses.
  4. Click OK, then drag / resize the source into position.

Placement: A top corner, always on; adjust color so it never matches the background.

How to use it in TikTok LIVE Studio

If you go live with TikTok LIVE Studio, the approach is the same — a browser layer, nearly identical to OBS:

  1. Open your scene / layer list in TikTok LIVE Studio.
  2. Add a Browser layer.
  3. Paste the link from Copy link into the URL field.
  4. Match the canvas size (e.g. 1920×1080) and keep the background transparent.
  5. Position the layer, go live, and send a test chat / gift to confirm it animates.
