Text Marquee — TikTok Live Text overlay

Text Marquee joins colored lines into one seamless horizontal ticker with adjustable direction and speed. The classic broadcast crawl — always moving, always readable.

Prerequisite: install and run TKStudio (Windows desktop) and connect it to the TikTok LIVE room you are streaming. This article stands on its own — from configuration to OBS / TikTok LIVE Studio setup.

When to use it

The bottom crawl survived decades of TV because peripheral vision reads it without stealing focus. Announcements, end times, contact info, and collab plugs all belong here; colored line segments even double as repeated brand exposure.

Speed is the key dial: keep ≤7 if comprehension matters.

The demo video above shows Text Marquee in action (both EN and ZH versions), and the cover previews the layout; the plugin page's live preview is the source of truth.

Configuration

Configure everything on the plugin page in TKStudio — tune on the left, preview live on the right, then hit Generate link. The table below lists every parameter in panel order, its default, and practical gotchas.

ParameterDescriptionDefaultGotchas
fontSizeFont size in pixels. (16–64)28Works together with Scale: set font size first, then scale the whole overlay.
sizeOverall overlay scale (1–10). (1–10)5You can still resize in OBS / LIVE Studio afterwards; avoid stacking both too small.
speedMarquee scroll speed step. (1–10)5Keep ≤7 if the text must be readable; faster is fine for pure decoration.
directionScroll direction or text tilt angle.Right to leftWithin ±15° looks playful; beyond that it gets messy.
separatorSeparator glyph between items.Empty joins items tightly; mind the width when using emoji.
linesList of text lines / ticker content. Each line can carry its own color; order is the playback order.

How to use it in OBS

This section assumes you have generated and copied the link: open TKStudio → pick Text Marquee → choose the room and tune parameters → Generate linkCopy link. Keep TKStudio running while you stream — the overlay link talks to the local TKStudio process.

Generate the Text Marquee overlay link in TKStudio

Add the link to OBS as a Browser Source:

  1. In the Sources dock click +Browser.
  2. Paste the copied link into URL; set width / height to your canvas (usually 1920×1080).
  3. Leave Shutdown source when not visible unchecked so the overlay never pauses.
  4. Click OK, then drag / resize the source into position.

Placement: Classic full-width bottom strip; don't stack it at the same height as game subtitles or thank-you tickers.

How to use it in TikTok LIVE Studio

If you go live with TikTok LIVE Studio, the approach is the same — a browser layer, nearly identical to OBS:

  1. Open your scene / layer list in TikTok LIVE Studio.
  2. Add a Browser layer.
  3. Paste the link from Copy link into the URL field.
  4. Match the canvas size (e.g. 1920×1080) and keep the background transparent.
  5. Position the layer, go live, and send a test chat / gift to confirm it animates.
